What do Miranda Kerr, Fan Bing Bing,  Olivia Palermo and Elle Fanning all have in common? Great taste, oodles of talent and impeccable style with a penchant for heritage designer brand Louis Vuitton. The name Louis Vuitton carries with it some serious weight in the world of designer fashion but its legendary history began with a humble sixteen year old boy who had a dream to become a trunk master. His name? Louis Vuitton. Thus the eponymous label was born and the heritage French brand has grown to become one of the biggest brands in the world, synonymous with luxury and timeless style.

Originally an apprentice for the trunk master Monsieur Maréchal, our brand focus designer Louis Vuitton began interning as a teenager in 1837 and stayed with Maréchal for seventeen years before establishing his own eponymous label. Louis Vuitton had built up quite the name for himself as a master craftsman, customising trunks for customers who needed sturdy luggage to withstand the bumpy horse-drawn carriage rides of the day. We've chosen Louis Vuitton as our brand focus because not only was he an inspirational teenage sensation, Vuitton was like the French Arthur Guinness, opening up his atelier in Asnières, northeast of the center of Paris and providing employment for the locals. Vuitton built up his business from a small workshop with 20 employees to 225 workers by 1914.

Marc Jacobs joined the Louis Vuitton brand as creative director in 1997 and the brand rose to new heights as Jacobs took the storied label in a new direction. His irreverent take on fashion and love of graffiti took the brand in a totally new direction and Louis Vuitton became the most covetable label among the it-crowd of the fashion world.

Marc Jacobs was credited with transforming the brand from a heritage trunk label to a global brand to be reckoned with but left in 2013 to focus on his own label. Nicolas Ghesquiere, previously of Balenciaga before the tenure of Alexander Wang took on the label and has moved away from the signature monogram aesthetic and towards cleaner lines and new shapes.

Ghesquiere's most recent outing for the Louis Vuitton brand was at Palm Springs and his muses including Fan Bingbing, Michelle Williams and Alicia Vikander were on the FROW carrying their designer arm-candy. Louis Vuitton is our brand focus, not only because it has a colourful history but because it represents a piece of timeless luxury and classic style we all long for!
