Irish design is something we celebrate here at Siopaella. Over the years we have stocked evryone from Chupi and Loulerie to Natalie B Coleman and Simone Rocha! We love supporting and watching Irish design flourish and grow. For such a tiny isalnd the talent here is unrivlled. One only has to look at last weeks NCAD Graduate Fashion Design show to be wowed and revel in the fact that Irish design is in VERY good hands!! One Irish designer already making waves is Melissa Curry, a jewellery designer that specialises in bold, bright, colourful designs! At the moment we have many of Curry's designs in and they are available to shop here on our website. Prepare to be wowed!!!

Carrie Bradshaw once said "I have this substance abuse problem...expensive footwear". Well Carrie, fret no more, we have you covered. See that was in the early 2000s before a little shop in Temple Bar called Siopaella opened up. A little shop (now three) that caters to the addicts of expensive shoes, bags etc but at a much lower price point! Queue...our next instalment of steal or splurge all about expensive footwear or rather footwear at a more affordable price and at a budget that suits you (you're welcome Carrie, oh and by the way, we ship worldwide...she was a real life character...right!?!).

I have two vices in my life, ankle boots and coats! I can't stop wearing ankle boots even in the summer, however I do like to keep them brighter than my trusted black ankle boots that I wear in winter. These Carvela boots are PERFECT (except not my size) and are a steal at just €69! Get them before I start stretching out my feet while I sleep!!!!

Clogs are having a real moment right now and I'll be honest, it took me a while to be fully converted. But by seeing the likes of Alexa Chung, Kate Moss and Sarah Jessica Parker rocking the clogs, I have become a convert. Curse my silly sponge like brain that struggles to fight against conformity!

Last week I was a bag (Fendi Mini 2 Jours if you're wondering) and this week I'm a pair of black ankle boots. These Acne Pistol boots are perfection and really are boots for life! I am obsessed and these would be mine if they weren't too small!!

I find these laser cut Aennis Eunis "Miracle" knee high boots so flattering. No matter if you have legs that go on forever (heya Kendall) or short little stumpy legs (heya Ciara) these will make your pins sparkle and with the adjustable laces, they will fit all calves like a glove! These are brand new and originally retail for over €900 and we have them at a snip for €399.

Rebecca O'Byrne is the stunning girl behind the award winning blog Haute So Fabulous. In the blog known as her "diary of chic", she shares all the things she finds fabulous in life. Rebecca has been our consignor for just under a year now and has brought us in gorgeous pieces from the high street as well as pieces from our favourite designers. Here we chat to Rebecca from Haute So Fabulous about her style, award winning blog and of course Siopaella!

    [gallery columns="2" link="file" size="full" ids="56749,56748"]

What made you decide to begin your own blog?

Honestly it's a long story but I was so uncertain as to what I wanted to do after school. I was an A+ student yet I didn't want to do anything totally conventional. I was sick during my Leaving Cert so I took time out, went to London, and then spent a year in South Africa where I volunteered in a township with kids doing art classes with them. Then I finally figured I wanted to do the college thing so I went and studied Fashion and Business in NYC. It was so amazing and an opportunity I'm so grateful to have. When I came home I started the blog. I always loved taking photos and fashion was always one of my life's greatest loves so I decided to put them together and start Haute So Fabulous. At first I was so shy, too shy to even put my name or a photo of myself on it. But after the first year I braved it, and two years later it's my full time job and something that I am working very hard to grow. It's lovely when you get to do something you love so much and this for me is what a career is supposed to be, something that never feels like work. I'm very grateful for that.

Talk us through your personal style.

My personal style is very simple. I call it "classic with a twist". I wear a lot of black or monochromatic tones. I believe in investing in core wardrobe pieces. You don't need a lot of clothes but it's important to have a good foundation that always works. I really believe in building your wardrobe over time and allowing your style story to play out as you grow in life. I do play a little with fashion but stick mainly to having my own style - fashion is cool but style lasts forever and I love the idea that I can get up each day and get dressed based on how I feel. I very rarely plan outfits, unless I'm travelling. A good wardrobe should mean you can get dressed with your eyes closed and it will work - a good solid colour palette is key to that.

What made you choose to consign your wardrobe to Siopaella?

I've known about Siopaella since the start and had always gone in for a browse. One of my friends has been consigning with you for a while now, and around this time last year I decided to become a Siopaella addict too. She had really recommended it so I felt it was a good fit seeing as I wanted to do a MAJOR wardrobe clear out. I love the ease of dropping things in and ALWAYS love the warm welcome from you and the team. You guys always make my day and Louis <the schnoodle and the real boss of Siopaella>...well Louis just makes my heart smile every time!

What one item would you NEVER consign to Siopaella and why?

Oh gosh that's a really hard one. I guess it'd be a vintage Chanel bag my mum gave me just because I love it so much. And let's face it she'd probably kill me!

What's the best thing about consigning with Siopaella?

Again the ease of the process is huge for me. I love dropping clothes in and knowing it's going to a new home. You buy clothes and if they're not forever pieces, you can only really appreciate them for a short time. Best to let someone else appreciate them for that little bit longer - that's pretty special.

Trends come and go, fashion changes, but icons last forever. Iconic brands that have held their prestigious names are Chanel, Louis Vuitton and of course, Hermes. In 1956, two of these icons came together and created something even more iconic, something that has only grown in popularity while still remaining rare and ominous - the Hermes Kelly bag. Grace Kelly was a huge fan of Hermes (she even wore a Hermes scarf as a sling when she broke her arm). However, after a photo of her carrying an Hermes bag to shield her baby bump from the paparazzi was splashed in magazines (including Life magazine) the bag was forever known as the Kelly bag.

    [gallery columns="1" link="file" size="full" ids="56599"]

Nowadays getting your hands on a Kelly bag can be as difficult as getting your hands on a Birkin (Hermes' other most iconic handbag)! They are rarely available to buy which in turn makes this bag difficult for us as a designer resale store to stock. But right now as this blog goes live, we have not one, not two but THREE Kelly bags in stock at the moment!

Kelly bags can take beween 18 - 25 hours to make and prices start at approximately €6,500 and have been known to sell for over €70,000. Our prices here at Siopaella start at €4,699, still pricey but a good investment if you want a classic, timeless and iconic piece for your wardrobe!

Remember we offer layaway plans to suit you should you want to purchase a Kelly bag. And if you have an Hermes Kelly bag to sell, we pay 80% of the resale price to you, the seller. Check out www.siopaella.com or call 01 677 1906 or 01 442 1747 for more info.
