While Ella & the Siopaella buyers are having fun in sunny Marrakesh on a buying trip (follow their adventures on snapchat: @siopaella), myself, Claire, Anna and Meghan headed to the DIT student fashion show. Held in Dublin's Vicar Street venue, the DIT fashion show is a reclaimed event among fashionistas alike. Run by the Dublin Institute of Technology's style society, the fashion show is completely organised by students. We booked our tickets as soon as we heard about it, because it was bound to be a fun night out mingling among Dublin's top fashion scene. It was for a good cause too- all proceeds raised from the event go to the Jack & Jill foundation, who continue to support and care for children with neurological development issues.

The theme of the show was 'metropolis' and it was separated into a number of different acts, ranging from monochrome to boho to punk. Featuring a selection of highstreet and vintage shops, the show and styling team really tried to cater for everyone. Not only was the show completely organised by the students, but they also had no sponsor this year, so it was incredible what they did without one. Retailers like Penneys, Boohoo and Selected Homme all featured, with almost 40 different students modelling the pieces.

The highlight of the show was definitely seeing the finalists for the DIT Student Design Competition. Nine student designs from across the country were chosen for their creativity and talent. The winner (Sarah Murphy) was chosen by four judges- broadcaster and designer Brendan Courtney, previous winner of the competition Umit Kutluk, stylist Maria Fusco and fashion editor of the Irish Independent, Bairbre Power. Brendan also hosted the fashion show, and his witty lines and humour really got the crowds spirits up before the show even began!

We had such a good night at the show and we applaud all the effort the students put in. Definitely put this event on your calendar for next year!
