DIT Fashion Show 2016

Posted by 70

While Ella & the Siopaella buyers are having fun in sunny Marrakesh on a buying trip (follow their adventures on snapchat: @siopaella), myself, Claire, Anna and Meghan headed to the DIT student fashion show. Held in Dublin's Vicar Street venue, the DIT fashion show is a reclaimed event among fashionistas alike. Run by the Dublin Institute of Technology's style society, the fashion show is completely organised by students. We booked our tickets as soon as we heard about it, because it was bound to be a fun night out mingling among Dublin's top fashion scene. It was for a good cause...

PASTELS AND FLORALS - SIOPAELLA SPRING STYLE It's the first day of spring, y'all. The days are getting longer, the sun is getting brighter and our outfits are getting a colourful update. We love getting a bit of air on our pasty whites and when it's time to get some sunshine on our pins, we rejoice - hurrah for bare legs (if it's good enough for super-babe Angela Scanlon, it's good enough for us, right?). Black tights are banished from our wardrobes from now on and it's pastels, white and cool off-kilter vintage shirts and mini skirts a go-go for all the...

Designer Focus - Rick Owens

Posted by 73

If one designer has taken the goth/grunge movement and catapulted it into the mainstream consciousness, it's Rick Owens. A relatively young label, Rick Owens is known for his signature leather jackets - entire collections are built around the wardrobe staple. [ux_image id="45484" image_size="medium" drop_shadow="1"] The designer, famed for his gothic approach, started his eponymous label in 1994 and sold exclusively to LA retailer Charles Gallay until Kate Moss featured in one of his designs in American Vogue. And there's no one like Mossy to amp up the desirability of a designer. Since then, Rick Owens has established the kind of...

Picture This... A catch up with Timi Ogunyemi

Posted by 68

Editor in Chief at Picture This! Dublin stopped by for a chat with us here in Siopaella about his past style, shopping online and what he's getting up to. We have known Timi for a couple years now, ever since he first visited Siopaella with the Picture This team back in 2013 during their walking tour.  From day one he's always been a huge supporter of Siopaella (well maybe its because Raquel humped his leg within seconds of meeting him and that's always a good sign right?). We all truly love how he's brought so much positivity to the Dublin scene and its beautiful...

Siopaella Designer Handbag Closet Clear Out

Kim Kardashian, arguably one of the most stylish and successful women in the world has gone from zero to hero in her looks which in no doubt is thanks to Yeezus aka Kanye West. We at Siopaella have no such style guru like Mr West (sorry Steve but you aint no Yeezus) to take us to our next platform where we can grow and thrive. So, we’re taking inspiration from Kimmy K and going back to where she began (and no that does not mean we’re making one of those tapes!!). Instead, like Kim K before she was Kim K...

5 Things We Learnt At The Web Summit 2015

Siopaella's first online anniversary is fast approaching, and as the site continues to grow, our knowledge of technology does too! On November 5th, we headed along to the last Web Summit in Dublin (it's in Lisbon next year - booo but yay for warmer weather hopefully!!). With 21 Summits, there were so many different talks and panels to choose from, but it was the Fashion Summit that we were most interested in (naturally!). From the Digital Editor of Conde Nast to the Founder of Refinery29, there was a such a wide range of speakers and fashion insiders to hear from. But from all the notes...

One Skirt, Three Looks

Gothic Glam [gallery columns="2" size="large" link="file" ids="36941,36943"] In October Mary wrote a blog post on the Gothic Victoriana trend that stormed the catwalks. This look is our take on that trend. We love the small waist contrasted against the volume of the skirt. Wear this look to: Your Christmas Party Jacket: Dr Denim. Top: Zoe Jordan. Skirt: Siopaella Vintage Twist [gallery columns="2" link="file" size="large" ids="36946,36945"] This look is all about the back. It's a simple yet rich print shirt and by opening it at the back allows the shirt to become contemporary and fashion forward. Wear this look to: Afternoon Tea...
