The Falabella was launched in 2010 and has been Stella McCartney's signature bag ever since. It's a classic bag but also has an edgy feel with the chunky chain hardware.
The bag can be worn two ways; carried by the top handles or folded into a clutch. There is the orgional tote and also backpack, clutch, mini top handle and Falabella Box to choose from.
Although some are skeptical about spending so much on a non leather bag, there is so much work that goes into creating each one. Falabella bags are made in Italy. Most of the crafting is done by hand and extensive research goes into the materials. Stella McCartney considers the bag to be a true luxury. The bags are made from vegan leather, which is made from recycled polyester. It creates 24 times less of an impact on the environment than calfskin.
Stella McCartney said that “one of the biggest compliments is when people go in and buy a Falabella bag and they have no idea that they’re not real leather. I think that’s really where it becomes sexy. Where you’re not just providing an alternative…you’re creating a great product.”
